Dearest Readers,
As the title suggests, I just got back from Denver, Colorado. At one time I had a great friend who lived there and this would have made a great bookend to my recent trip to Nashville. Alas, he moved from the Mile High City about a year ago so no such heartfelt happy ending there. Equally unfortunate as not knowing anyone there is the fact I was only in town less than 24 hours and had much work to catch up on so most of my time was spent in a hotel room at the computer. No, dearest readers, there was no exciting restaurant or element of danger and suspense on this trip. Even the flights were smooth and on time. Here's a picture of the city if you are unfamiliar:
Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, the city is known for its thin air, disappointing sports teams, and medical marijuana. Based on the last election, we can likely remove "medical" from the last of the previous list. Whatever. It's a beautiful city and a lot of fun...if you have someone who knows there way around, which I don't...anymore.
What I did do this past week was order a copy of Belle de Jour for my father. It's such an odd film with the hauntingly beautiful but very creepy Catherine Duneuve. This is only important because a few weeks ago, he mentioned that he wanted a copy of the film. This disturbed and frightened me on many fronts. Look it up and read the summary on imdb if you aren't familiar with the movie. Then you can pass judgement if you would want to know that one of your parents loved this movie. Can't judge too much. I already owned a copy.
Otherwise, a pretty uneventful trip. I did get a VW Beetle as a rental car. This is the second time in my last four trips that this has happened. Actually, they are pretty fun to drive and other than being 6'4" and feeling like I'm in a clown car, I think I would buy one if I were in the market. My ride in Denver was white and looked like this:
With Thanksgiving approaching, I will spend the next few days preparing for the onslaught of family and cooking of meals. I'll try to photo and post the excitement. As always, thanks for stopping by and reading your humblest of servants.
