Dearest Readers,
Sorry I've been off the grid for a bit, but as the title of this post suggests I am back on the road pretty hard core lately. This week was Nashville, TN. Music City USA, baby. A city so great...um, well, never mind. Just know that it's a fun town.
When I arrived and got to the rental car lot, there was one car left in an aisle of emerald green. It was a brand new Ford Explorer with only 36 miles on the odometer. Here is a reasonable photographic representation of my fly hooptie:
I am decidedly not an SUV person and typically think that most people who own them have no idea how to drive them and should mostly spend their days being hit in the back of the head with a shovel, but I digress. It was a fun ride with all the bells and whistles, most of which I never figured out how to use. Since this is decidedly not like the vehicle I actually own, I felt really odd roaming around town in this thing. At various points I felt like a pimp, a dealer, or an NFL slot receiver, though often the line of demarcation between those career paths is blurry. Perhaps I was all of those things for my 30 hours in the volunteer state.
While there, I got a chance to meet up with a friend I hadn't seen in about 20 years. We got the chance to have dinner, and I met his kids and new fiancee. We've known each other since age 4 or 5 and have spoken over the last few years, but living in separate states a couple of thousand miles away from each other makes a random week night dinner difficult.
Here's a picture of Nashville for my Indonesian, and newly acquired Latvian readership:
Had a great pulled pork sandwich with my friend and his son. I'll try to post a photo update to this post so that you can see the greatness, but don't really feel inclined to do so right now. As always, your humblest of servants.
